State Level Agencies and Laws Protecting Consumers against Robocalls, Telemarketers, and Debt Collection Calls in Maine:

  • Maine Do Not Call List (Title 10, Chapter 212-A): The Maine Do Not Call List allows consumers to reduce unsolicited telemarketing calls by registering their residential and mobile phone numbers. To register, visit the Attorney General’s website or call 1-888-283-7062.
  • Maine Unfair Trade Practices Act (Title 5, Chapter 10): The Maine Unfair Trade Practices Act aims to protect consumers from deceptive and unfair business practices, including those related to robocalls and telemarketing.

To report robocall violations, telemarketing scams, debt collection abuses, or other consumer-related complaints in Maine, contact the Maine Office of the Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division, at 1-800-436-2131 (in-state) or 1-207-626-8849 (out-of-state) during business hours, or email consumer.mediation@maine.gov.
